Multiplier events - project presentations in high schools

Co-Funded by the European Union

Three multiplier events were organized and carried out in Croatia in order to present the project and its results to young people aged 14-19 attending high school. High school students were selected as a target group because their behavior and responsibility for preserving the environment is of crucial importance for their own future. Young people also tend to be more flexible in their lifestyle choices and more likely to make changes in their behavior.

The first multiplier event took place in the Agricultural and forestry school in Vinkovci. We had the opportunity to present our project to students who are close to the end of their high school education. The school has its own garden, focuses on ecological food production and a majority of the students come from families who are in the agricultural sector thus making this group of young people an extremely important audience for our project.

The second multiplier event took place in Zagreb in Opća privatna gimnazija (Private general high school). Students from this high school travel a lot more than students from rural areas, both as part of their school’s programme and privately, especially since they are in the third grade and are planning their traditional graduation trip - in this case to Barcelona. Therefore, receiving knowledge about sustainable travel from our project participants came at the right time for them.

The third multiplier event took place in Sisak in the Technical school in Sisak. We presented our project to students from the second and fourth grade which made an interesting combination of those who are still at the first half of their education and those who are finishing their high school education and who are just about to become independent adults.

In all high schools where we held the multiplier events the students listened to a short informative presentation and had the opportunity to watch the sustainable travel video guides. Most importantly, in each school the students participated in discussions with the presenters during which they could ask questions and comment on the topics presented.
