Darkest Shades of Blue Album Cover

I like this piece for many reasons, not the least of which is the way Marshall guides our eyes through a constellation of focal points encompassing the piece, ensuring that we engage with it entirely and reiteratively. Because of its size and value and the figure ascending it, the staircase is the dominant focal point. It serves as an entry point from which our eyes are directed up to the figure holding the instrument and emitting thought bubbles, whose line of vision we trace further up and across the composition to the moon, beneath which a skyline and a row of what appear to be clocks is positioned above the staircase, which grabs our attention again.
